I cannot believe the little ladies have their 5 month birthday today, it is ironic that a year ago today was the day I found out I was pregnant. Who would of thought, a year later to the exact date my babies would be 5 months old. The past month has been interesting, we have been experiencing a lot of first’s which is super exciting.
The most exciting movement is we have started weaning this month and testing out some foods with the girls. Whilst I am aware that the NHS guidelines is to start weaning at 6 months. However, I felt that the girls were ready to move onto the next stage and is something that felt right for my babies and I. The girls are both really loving new tastes, I am keeping it very bland and extremely pureed but I’m loving making my own food for them as I know exactly where its coming from and what is going in it. I started off just with breakfast and when I knew that they were digesting the food properly I introduced dinner which they have at 4.30pm. I am still yet to introduce lunch and to be honest it’s the one meal I am a bit nervous about introducing as I’m worried it will make things more difficult having to feed both babies when I am out and about but I know I just need to get on with it – I can’t just feed breakfast and dinner forever.
The girls have really started to use their voices now, it’s so nice hearing them chat away in their own little language. Although, I don’t quite think they can understand each other just yet. I remember speaking about my difficulty with trying to orchestrate bath time with the two babies. We have now changed it so I am able to bath them together which speeds up the process and means they get to spend longer in the bath which is great for them as they love splashing around and making lots of mess.
Slowly I am finding month by month getting easier, we have established a good routine now which makes the world of difference to myself and the girls.
